How many wines are there in the world?
How many business books are there?
There are countless samples of both.
However, how many of these books have been paired with wines by a Professor using MBA Thinking?
Only nine of them, to date.
This, my friends, is scarcity.
And as Dr Robert Cialdini explains in Influence: The Persuasion Of Psychology, we are drawn to scarce things like a whisper of moths is drawn to a solitary candle flame.
Hence, I have paired this book with a sumptuous wine from the south east region of South Australia, Wrattonbully to be precise.
There, two sisters have cultivated their vineyards, crafted grapes for big names like Penfolds, and in the best years, they make wines under their Eight At The Gate label.
This makes their 2015 Cabernet Shiraz a perfect candidate for the Law Of Scarcity.
It is much sought after and teetering on the brink of selling out.
But, perhaps, let’s watch the video in which I get so excited – a favourite book and a favourite wine – that I muddle the titles of both!
You can taste this style of MBA Thinking for yourself, by signing up today to do A Lunchtime MBA during the 2021 Adelaide Fringe.
